MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06 Title: Brown Sugar Pound Cake Categories: Cakes, Celebrity, Desserts Yield: 1 Cake 1 c Butter 1/2 c Crisco shortening 5 Eggs 4 1/2 c Light brown sugar 3 1/2 c Plain flour 1/2 ts Baking powder 1 c Milk; or as needed MMMMM--------------------------FROSTING------------------------------- 1 c Pecans; chopped 1/2 c Butter 4 c Confectioners' sugar Milk; to thin Let eggs and butter sit until they are room temperature. Cream butter and Crisco together. Add eggs one at a time, creaming after each. Add brown sugar. Sift together flour and baking powder. Add dry ingredients alternately with 1 c milk to sugar mixture. Bake in greased and floured tube pan for 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 hours at 325°F. Toast pecans in 1/2 c butter in thick broiler pan until they brown well. Let cool a little, then add confectioners' sugar. Add milk enough to thin to spreading consistency. Spread on top of cake. Some should drip down sides and center but should not be spread anywhere except on top. Recipe by Willard H. Scott, Jr. MMMMM
