MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06 Title: Meringue Cake Categories: Cakes Yield: 1 Cake MMMMM----------------------------CAKE--------------------------------- 1/4 c Butter 4 Egg yolks; well beaten 4 tb Milk 2 tb Flour 1/2 c Sugar 1 c Cake flour 1 ts Baking powder 1/4 ts Salt MMMMM----------------------MERINGUE FILLING--------------------------- 4 Egg whites 3/4 c Sugar 1/4 c Nuts; chopped 1 c Whipped cream 1 1/2 tb Powdered sugar 1 c Crushed pineapple or - strawberries; drained Cream butter and sugar, add well-beaten egg yolks, and mix thoroughly. Add cake flour alternately with milk. Sift remaining 2 tb of flour with baking powder and salt and add last, mixing well. Put in two 8" pans. Beat egg whites to a froth, add a light sifting of sugar, continue adding sugar while beating until all has been added. Spread on top of cake batter and sprinkle with nuts.
