Pat firmly into greased 8" square pan. Bake at 300°F for 20 minutes. Combine apple, lemon, and butter and stir over low heat until thickened. Topping: Beat egg and add sugar gradually. Add melted butter and coconut. Spread filling on partially-baked base. Cover with topping. Bake in oven turned up to moderate, 350°F. Cool thoroughly and cut in squares.
