                            Brown Sugar Drops

   1       c            Shortening
   2       c            Brown sugar
   2                    Eggs
     1/2   c            Buttermilk or water
   3 1/2   c            Flour
   1       ts           Baking soda
   1       ts           Salt

  Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs thoroughly. Stir in buttermilk.
  Measure flour by dipping method. Stir flour, salt, and soda
  together. Blend into sugar mixture. Chill for at least 1 hour. Heat
  oven to 400°F. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheets,
  2" apart. (Cookie sheet sheets should be lightly greased.) Bake 8
  to 10 minutes.
