                          Teacakes Grandma-Style

--------  ------------  --------------------------------
   2      c             Sugar
   1      c             Shortening
   4                    Eggs
   2      ts            Vanilla
   4      ts            Baking powder
   1      ts            Salt
   4      c             Flour

Cream shortening, add sugar and eggs. Combine with rest of
ingredients. Roll out, cut and bake 8 to 10 minutes at 350°F.

When I was a teenager, I can remember my grandma telling me the story
about the small town of Pickwick. Pickwick was done away with because
the dam was going to be built. She was a native of Palo Pinto County.
My grandpa, Lon L. Mason, grew up in Palo Pinto, Texas. She and I had
many conversations about history while eating her Teacakes. Try the
recipe, and maybe, you can remember a story or two to tell.
