* Exported from MasterCook * Apple Praline Pie Recipe By : , Jan 199 Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Pies Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 15 oz Refrigerated pie crusts 6 Granny Smith apples -- - peeled, cored, and sliced 1 ts Lemon zest -- grated 1/3 c Light corn syrup -- - +3 tb, divided 1/4 c Butter -- - +1 tb, melted, divided 3 tb Sugar 1/4 c All-purpose flour -- divided 1 ts Apple pie spice 1/2 c Light brown sugar -- - firmly packed 1/3 c Pecans or walnuts -- chopped Fit 1 pie crust into a 9" pieplate according to package directions. Arrange apple slices in pie crust, and sprinkle with lemon zest. Set aside. Combine 1/3 cup corn syrup, 2 tb butter, 3 tb sugar, 2 tb flour, and apple pie spice. Pour over apple slices. Combine remaining 3 tb corn syrup, remaining 3 tb butter, remaining 2 tb flour, brown sugar, and pecans. Spoon 1/3 cup mixture over apple slices. Unfold remaining pie crust. Cut 2 to 3 desired shapes from center, using a cookie cutter. Reserve cutouts. Place piecrust over filling; fold edges under, and crimp. Brush cutouts with water, and attach to top of pie. Place on a baking sheet. Bake at 425°F for 25 minutes; remove from oven, and dollop with remaining brown sugar mixture. Reduce heat to 350°F, and bake 10 more minutes. Cool completely.
