                                 Suckers

   1      c             Sugar
     3/4  c             Corn syrup
     1/4  c             Butter
     1/4  ts            Food coloring
     1/4  ts            Peppermint extract
                        Icing:
   1                    Egg white
   1      c             Powdered sugar

In heavy pan bring sugar, syrup, butter to boil, stirring. Add food
coloring; stir to blend. Continue cooking to 265°F, strirring
occasionally. Remove from heat; stir in flavoring. Place sticks on
cookie sheet. Drop by tablespoons on stick. When hard mix egg white
and powdered sugar. Decorate suckers.
