* Exported from MasterCook II * Cinnamon Apple Squares Recipe By : Karen Weber Serving Size : 16 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Desserts Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 lg Apples 2 c Sugar 1 tb Maple syrup 1/2 c Applesauce 2 ts Baking soda 1 ts Salt 2 Egg whites 2 tb Lemon juice 2 ts Vanilla 2 c Flour 1 tb Cinnamon Set oven to 350°F. Lighly grease a 9x13" pan and set aside until ready to use. Peel and coarsely chop the apples. In the bowl of an electric mixer beat the egg whites for 30 seconds. Add the lemon juice, maple syrup, and vanilla, and beat for 1 minute more. Stir in the applesauce. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, soda, cinnamon, and salt. Fold the apples into the batter. Mix the dry ingrediens. Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan and bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes or until the center springs back when gently pressed. Remove the squres from the oven and set on a wire rack to cool. Slice into 16 squares and cover with foil until ready to serve.
