* Exported from MasterCook * Meringue Shells, Ice Cream and Fruits Recipe By : Freeze With Ease copyright 1965 Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Desserts Freezer Meals Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 1/2 c Sugar -- sifted 7 Egg whites 1/8 ts Salt 1 ts Vanilla 3/4 c Sugar Ice cream Frozen fruit -- just thawed Beat egg whites and salt until half stiff. Add the sugar, 1 tb at a time, beating constantly. Continue to beat several minutes after the last of the sugar has been added. Add vanilla. Fold in 3/4 cup sugar. Place large spoonfuls of this mixture on a baking sheet covered with waxed paper or shape with pastry bag into ovals. Make slight depression in center with back of spoon. Bake at 225°F for 45 to 60 minutes. Remove from sheet and while still warm, crush in the center with thumb to make depression for filling. Freeze. To Serve: Defrost (will defrost in less than 1 hour at room temperature) and fill with ice cream and frozen fruit. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
