MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06 Title: Two-Layered Apple Crisp Categories: Fruit, Grains, Herbs Yield: 12 servings 3/4 c Butter; softened 1 1/2 c Brown sugar; packed 2 ts Ground cinnamon 1/2 ts Salt 2 c A-P flour 2 c Old-fashioned oats MMMMM--------------------------FILLING------------------------------- 1 c Sugar 3/4 c A-P flour 1/4 c Brown sugar; packed 1 ts Ground cinnamon 1/8 ts Ground nutmeg 3 lg Honeycrisp or Golden - Delicious apples; peeled, - sliced 3 ts Vanilla extract 1 tb Butter MMMMM--------------------------OPTIONAL------------------------------- Vanilla ice cream Caramel sundae syrup Salted pecans Set oven @ 350°F/175°C. In a large bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt until crumbly. Add flour and oats; mix well. Press 3 cups oat mixture into the bottom of a greased 13x9" baking dish. In another bowl, mix the first 5 filling ingredients. Add apples and vanilla; toss to combine. Spoon over oat layer. Dot with butter; sprinkle with remaining oat mixture. Bake, uncovered, until golden brown and apples are tender, 45-50 minutes. If desired, serve with toppings.
