* Exported from MasterCook Mac * Boston Baked Beans Recipe By : Ann Miner (fatfree list) Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Entree Freezable Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 2 1/2 c Dried navy or red beans -- - soaked overnight 1/3 c Molasses 1/4 c Brown sugar 1 tb Dry mustard 1/4 ts Cayenne 1 ts Bakon yeast 2 ts Tamari soy sauce 2 md Onions -- chopped coarsely 2 Bay leaves 3 cl Garlic -- minced 1 ts Salt Fresh ground pepper Preheat oven to 300°F. Rinse and drain beans, cover with fresh water and bring to a boil for 5 minutes. Rinse and drain again. Whisk together molasses, sugar, mustard, cayenne, and bakon yeast in a bowl, then mix with the beans. Add onions, bay leaves, garlic, and pepper. Place in 2 qt baking dish and add water to cover. Cover and bake until the beans are very soft, 7 to 8 hours. Check occasionally and add more water if necessary to keep beans from drying out.
