MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06 Title: Lentil Burgers Categories: Burgers, Indian, Vegetarian Yield: 4 Servings 1/2 c Lentils 1 c Water 2 tb Onion; chopped 1/2 c Carrot; grated 1 Tomato; chopped 2 tb Sesame seeds 1/2 c Besan (chickpea flour) 1 ts Garam masala 1/2 c Cilantro; chopped 1 c Oil 1/2 ts Black pepper powder Salt; to taste 4 tb Tomato sauce 1 lg Cucumber; sliced Cook lentils in a pressure cooker with water and tomato for 3 minutes after bringing to maximum pressure. Remove from heat and allow to cool before uncovering. There should not be any water in the lentils; if there is, drain and keep liquid for soups. Mash ingredients well--consistency should be firm. Add onions, carrots, garam masala, sesame seeds, salt, pepper, and cilantro. Lastly, add flour and mix well to form 4 to 6 individual patties. Heat oil in a skillet and sauté the burgers on both sides until golden brown. As an alternative, these patties can also be baked at 450°F for 30 minutes.
