* Exported from MasterCook * Grilled Ham, Caramelized Onion, Apple, & Cheese Sandwiches Recipe By : Copyright © 1995 by Heidi Rabel Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:05 Categories : Sandwich Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 8 slices sourdough bread -- 1/2" thick Dijon Glaze mayonnaise -- Homemade 3/4 cup caramelized Onion -- at room temperature 4 thin ham slices -- at room temperature 1 tart apple cored and sliced about 1/4" thick 4 slices Jarlsberg or Swiss cheese olive oil Brush one side of each slice of bread with a thin coating of Dijon Glaze. Spread mayonnaise on 1 slice per sandwich. Layer 1/4 of the onion and ham, a layer of apple slices, a slice of cheese on mayonnaise slice, and top with remaining slice of bread. Brush the top and bottom of each sandwich with oil and grill in a pan or sandwich grill (don't press the top of the grill) until the bread is crisp and golden brown and the cheese has melted. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - NOTES : Yield: 4 sandwiches.
