2019-08-26 - Hurray! the planet has never been this hot!

Pff, it is warm stil outside. At the end of august it is still 32 
degrees Celsius. Actually yesterday it was the hottest 25th of 
august ever measured here. The strange thing is that on the radio 
and in the general media this is being told as a 'celebratory' 
thing - Woohoo, it is 30+ degrees C, and it has never been this 
hot here ever!

There are actual villages with weather stations 'competing' for 
measuring the hottest temperature of the day. And when they measure 
this hottest temperature, they have festivities as if this is a 
celebratory thing. Weather reporters talk about 'heat-records' as 
if it is some kind of positive thing. And radio stations respond by 
playing sily summer music.

However, it is not supposed to be 30+ degrees C at the end of 
august. And it is weird to notice that there are hardly reports of 
concern or worry to be seen anywhere in the general media here.

I wonder when there will be a tipping point, that people in general 
will say; "Today it's frigging hot, and it has never been this hot, 
and that is a bad thing. So this might be reason for a healthy dose 
panic.". Perhaps that might be a bit more sensible than 
celebrating such events.
