2024-12-18 - Vanished ------------------------------------------------------------------- Im currently reading a book by Tim Weaver; Vanished, which i picked up at the second hand shop the other day. And im enjoying it quite a bit. I'm roughly half way in the book at the moment. I'm trying to make reading books part of my 'new routine', and so far it is working out pretty well. I think i've read more books in the past months than in the multiple years before it. To make the boundary low as possible, i am not selecting for 'serious' literature or anything. If it's a book i think i'd enjoy reading, i read it. The idea is; Anything is better than reading stuff online. So if i feel like reading comics, i do that. The goal is reading; good old-fashioned offline non-networked non-digital reading. On actual paper, not e-ink paper or whatever :P I've read a whole series of Dan Brown books; And some were enjoyable; I quite liked the Da Vinci code and Deception Point. I've read Catcher in the Rye; Some book by Murakami which i didnt really like, and The Associate by Grisham... which was quite a bit anti-climatic unfortunately. All the books are from the various second hand shops around town. And it is nice to browse around for books there, and be unable to find the actual books i would like to read. This makes me read other books, which i wouldn't think of reading :) So, anyway. All is good. Books are nice. And digital things stink. Maybe i should go and figure out an off-line paper gopher protocol.
