25 DAYS TO GO (Posted 2016-02-17 14:05:56 by corey_reichle) 25 days to go until the Buffalo Shamrock Run [ http://buffaloshamrockrun.com/index.html ]. The Shamrock run is a rather challenging 8K held every year. I've not run the course itself yet (Got to do that), but from knowing the roads, it's a much more challenging race than the Buffalo YMCA Turkey Trot [ http://www.coreyreichle.com/2015/11/27/turkey-trot-2015-race-report/ ] (A touch over 8K). So, the real challenge for me is to PR my 8K time. The course has a number of "hills" which are really overpasses (4).  Each one is rather steep, but thankfully, under 1/5 mile each, which of course have an equitable downhill for each as well.  But, aside from the overpasses, it's generally flat, so I should be able to make up time. It's also a smaller race than the Turkey Trot.  Turkey Trot had 13,000 runners.  Shamrock Run tops at 6,000 runners.  And, I've gotten fair warning corrals are like the Turkey Trot, so I know to disregard pacing flags, and just line up in front. So, I'm looking to best a 55:54 gun time, and a 47:54 net time.  I think I've got it, as my last 5.25 mile run was 50 minutes.  After this race, I'll be grabbing a Shamrock Shake, then doing some 5K races over the next few months, and then a half marathon in October. -------- There are no comments on this post.
