I got that internship! It's technically an informal offer, since I haven't done paperwork yet and I wouldn't be starting untill May, but still. Even though I goofed a few really, really easy things during the interview (I promise I know what port SSH uses I was just nervous!), I'm glad they think I'm competent enough to hire. It pays more than my current position & I'd be working full time instead of part time, so I'll basically make 4 times what I made this summer, so that's cool too. The team I'll be on is more focused on security automation and such than incident response, but I think it'll be a good fit. And I have plenty of time to learn powershell before I get there. Also, I got into pretty much all the classes that I want for next semester. Yay! The one I'm most excited about is a cybersecurity attack and defense lab that mostly focuses on binary security. Can't remember if I mentioned it in my last feels, but this class has been described to me as "Difficulty: 10/10. Learning: 11/10." I need to spend winter break brushing up on my assembly skills, because I've really only worked with MIPS and I've barely even dabbled in x86. I'm sure this class is going to be filled with dudes who live and breathe this stuff, and I don't wanna be left behind. Also, assembly is cool and I'd like to learn it anyway. I'm also taking computer networks, finally, and database systems. Both of those should be good. It's been a while since I've worked on a programming side project, but the last few have kind of fizzled out when I realized a database would be the best way to move forward, but I didn't know how to structure it. Also that professor is the same guy I had for digital logic, and he's a good one. The professor for comupter networks is a bit of a toss up (his syllabi and CV are written in bright blue comic sans for some reason), but I'm perfectly fine teaching myself that subject, since I've kind of already done it. I just need designated time to focus on it and refresh my memory. This weekend has been pretty nice and relaxed so far. Later this afternoon is the weekly pathfinder session. It's been a while, since we skipped a few weeks for halloween celebrations and a fencing tournament that most of the party went to. It should be good! Also, today is my friend's birthday, so the snacks today are going to be extra fun. I should go bake a cake or something. Time to go start the day!
