i had a lot more written here, but i think it was too privilege heavy, so this instead: i had a lovely christmas. everybody, myself included, got some real cool stuff. also there was a well behaved dog who was adorable. * i got the Princeton Encyclopedia of Poetry and Poetics (4th edition, 2012), which i am really excited about. i'm not an enlgish or fine arts student in any formal capacity, but i want to bite off and read a good chunk of that book. I think to make those stick i want to write thoughts or summaries or essays about them, and maybe post them to a gopherhole (probably on sdf). the point of posting them publicly would be to make me commit to it, but it would carve out a little poetry corner in gopherspace, and that would be cool. * i also want to write about Don Quixote, because it is an amazing novel, and i have many thoughts about it, and not enough time to read everything to see if other people have thought them before me. so far though, my central thesis of "Don Quixote isn't mad" hasn't been supported very strongly by many critics (sans Mark Van Doren, but his analysis is not that deep in that regard): _. , _x_ \; /| ._()"' __X__ * D O N |/#|\ , \ @ _____##"_____ [\ `|; o Q U I X O T E (=\)\ ,, (+) ||'| [`( \)` MIGUEL DE CERVANTES _______________________!!_!_____!!'!_____________________________ if i manage to ever write anything, ill talk about it here, and probably mirror it on sdf and ~town's gopherholes
