commented: I am really not that surprised. I do not recall that any of the Hyperscalers ever told the truth when it becomes to environmental impact. Whether it’s water consumption, air pollution [1], noise pollution [2]! And the economic impact on the communities hasn’t even been considered. For one, building DCs attracts many skilled workers from everywhere in the country such as electricians, but that’s driving local housing prices. Migrant workers working for months there pay a premium on Air BnB rooms which are so darn expensive that they have to share rooms with co-workers. And residents have the problem that affordable housing is becoming scant.
