Finally took the time to rework gitary[1]. It no longer needs that hacky custom markup language. Code size went down by 50%. ____________________ Just found the first installation of sgopherd[2] in the wild: gopher://zelibertinegamer.me/0/about.txt Wow! ____________________ Speaking of Gopher servers, it appears a lot of people write their own server. There's a tiny server written in rc: http://9hal.ath.cx/usr/cinap_lenrek/gophe.rc Some guy wrote his server in lua: gopher://gopher.conman.org/1Gopher%3aSrc%3a And some other guy wrote it in Oracle Nashorn, which I have hever heard about before: gopher://gopher4all.com/1about Weird. I thought I was the only one who doesn't use one of the "big" servers like Gophernicus. :-) ____________________ And speaking of Gopher in general, there are *still* new servers popping up. Not a lot, of course, but still. It's fascinating. I wonder when Gopher is going to die -- and if it ever will. Unlike other "old systems" like BBSes, which required you to directly dial into them, Gopher runs on the Internet. So, I guess, as long as the Internet is around, Gopher will be around. ____________________ 1. https://www.uninformativ.de/projects/gitary/ 2. gopher://uninformativ.de/1/gopher/sgopherd
