And that is unusual in what way?

I've never had a laptop which would reliably wake up from hibernation. I've 
never had a laptop which would reliably shut down, for that matter.

We have a fleet of identical laptops at our office, and they all exhibit 
various symptoms of that sort. There are timing issues galore in the startup 
and shutdown processes of both the hardware and the software.
