Then why bother connecting to echonets? It's the same principle.

I could see being a little hesitant to try one that's only been around for a while, but DoorParty is the longest-serving door server in the world with almost 100% uptime since 2013. BBSlink has been up marginally shorter, maybe 9 months less. If you're hesitant about two servers that have been around continuously for around 13 years, then I dunno what to tell you.
