I don't NEED one, but it sure does make things easier on all the public facing things... the more I dug thru my Xfinity account, I notice I don't have STATIC IP gauranteed - but... I've had this Xfinity account for around 7 years and the IP has NEVER changed until last week. Even thru a home move - hopefully it'll stick around that long this time. 

I'm looking into some options to auto-catch changes in the future anyway. :P
