Yeah, I think there are sounds that are irritating to everyone (and for instance, that's why it's generally considered rude to chew food with your mouth open). Some people joke about it (and not all doctors will diagnose it), but it seems it's an actual condition. And I think it's more than just being irritated with a sound. There's a subreddit on Reddit about it, and sometimes I see people complaining they wish they didn't have misophonia as they don't want to feel angry just because they hear a sound (which could be a fairly common sound).
