Subj : Deadline 2025 Demo Party To : Adept From : Mindsurfer Date : Wed Oct 08 2025 11:02 am Re: Deadline 2025 Demo Party By: Adept to All on Tue Oct 07 2025 18:24:52 Ad> I enjoyed being a sofa scener for the Deadline 2025 demo party, in Berlin, Ad> though I didn't wind up watching the demo competition that wrapped up Ad> after 3a local time. it was really late. i remember falling asleep and when i woke up again, they were still streaming :-p i always try to find someone to have a chat with while watching demo party live streams. join me in MRC or in irc.libera.chat #demoscene if you like. Ad> It's interesting on my level of engagement with it, as after a while my Ad> brain kinda felt overloaded, and I did other things. Which I probably Ad> would have done in person, too, but with juggling or socializing. And Ad> possibly still would have felt overloaded. Ad> Anyway, I did have a remote entry in the Textmode Graphics compo: Ad> demozoo.org/graphics/378251/ Ad> The theme of the party was "B-Movie", and I was attempting to draw a femme Ad> fatale. It was the first time I've done a work of any size using iCE Ad> colors, which is why I'm not posting it somewhere on FSXnet. not to bad! it is a big one, over multiple standard size screens. i know i could not create such an ansi artwork. all i doo is playing around with text and big letters and stuff =) Ad> It placed 17th of 20th, and I... really have no idea why. I'm assuming a Ad> combo of remote entry, people just liking Petscii/Commodore/Amiga stuff Ad> more, people not liking an oversex'd entry, people not knowing me, and, Ad> for all I know, people not liking me. Maybe it is not Scene-ish enough. No idea. Well, yeah. It could be that the other artists are better connected in the scene and get more votes that way, or as you said were there in person. Or your entry was not perceived as stylish or "cool" enough. who knows! They should offer online voting, just for reference, not for official results. But it would be interesting if the online votes would differ alot from the votes of the participants that have been right there live and in person. Ad> Anyway, there were plenty of nice entries, and I'll give a special shout Ad> out to Revengeday, with a solid 6th-place entry Ad> (demozoo.org/graphics/378253), who directly mentioned coming from a BBS Ad> background, and who made it to the party. i think as small of a scene as demoscene and bbs scene are, it can't hurt to push and help each other out where we can. Ad> Anyone else up to anything interesting on a creative project? i have good intentions of becoming creative again ;) =) LOL Mindsurfer --- SBBSecho 3.28-Linux * Origin: FuNToPiA BBS - telnet://funtopia.synchro.net:3023 (21:3/119) .
