 There's so much acknowledgement nowadays. I miss the '80s, going to
 school in San Francisco. There was Straight and Queer, and they each
 sort of encompassed a whole group.

 Simpler times.

I joked about Hamburger Mary's, a wonderful bar and restaurant that was
a melting pot in South of Market in San Francisco - a block from 2
leather bars, close to the nascent tech boom in the 90s, and still home
to the locals. I'd always give props to a bar that made fancy drinks but
still had a PBR tap for the locals.

You'd see men in drag at the bar next to tech bros in dockers and button
down shirts and a group of college kids. Everyone just sort of got
along. Killer music, too.

They had 2 single-stall bathrooms. They were originally marked MEN and
LADIES. That caused some confusion, so they changed the names to BUTCH
and FEMME. Later, they gave up and labeled them both WHOEVER - after
all, they were identical!
