finally making some progress, tried a different login and got a connection...
seeking some guidance from webhost as to what logins I can / can't use.

Managed to 'put' a file on the web server using sftp

scp has not liked the destination I have been trying to send a local file to
and squawks about it being a directory...

Bed time... phew, this has been a long day

And my country looks to be moving alert levels because of a coivd scare
too... was going to work in the office but now working from home tomorrow.
