I doubt if spammers know about telnet/rlogin/ssh or QWK. They could do that but
I have never seen them do it.

Synchronet has a web interface also and it is possible for someone to create an
account on the BBS on the web page. Once they do that they can read/reply/post
from the web page or from telnet/rlogin/ssh if they chose. I don't think bots
can put all that together but a person could do that.
