That's a very real possibility. And yes, equally as bad. 

However, should any discussion of world events be taboo as a result? It's a
hard line to draw, one way or the other. And if we were to draw that line with
too much detail, members may find themselves unable to speak for fear of
crossing it. That would be worse.
