They had old videotapes with the original signals on them and were sampling..and re-sampling the signals to try to extract the original signal. With some success. I'm from the era where I loved the idea of videotex but never had a chance to play with it...I'd love to see both the original and something approximating it return. The old NAPALPS standard is an interesting study...very low bandwidth but vector based, quite similar to SVG. ....I've since lost that website where they were trying to exract the original videotex signals.
