Subj : log in first time as sysop on Synchronet

I go to log in to the bbs for the first time as sysop, a new user, I type "new". It suggests I set up the sysop log in and asks for the system password i created at first set up. However, when I attempt to type the password I get no response from my keyboard.

Am i overlooking a small detail here, or should I try a different keyboard? The same keyboard let me log in here and typ all of this.
