Barstow is about 90 miles from here... not REALLY close, but not too bad if 
you've got the whole day free.

They're somewhat getting their way with the San Luis Res up near Los Banos.  
The lake has been very low for a couple of years, and one of the guys in our 
San Jose office said that the environmentalists were making them delay turning 
on some set of pumps every year because some animal in the San Francisco bay 
needs the water.
