"Scott of the Sahara" always looked to me like it was based on a contemporary 
film. Does anyone know what film this would be?

There was a Scott film in 1948, but it doesn't necessarily have to have been a 
movie about Scott. Maybe it was about another explorer. But it does look like a 
parody of something specific - at least, it made that impression on me.

Ideas?
