Subj : Spike Milligan's Adolph Hitler: My Part in his Downfall To : All From : Analda Anglin Date : Sun Jul 26 2009 03:52 am From: "Analda Anglin" (posted on request from the Hampstead Theatre) Spike Milligan’s Adolf Hitler: My Part in His Downfall will play at the Hampstead Theatre in London from 22 July – 22 August. As the Pythons were dedicated Spike fans and Spike himself had a cameo part in Life of Brian, we're sure this play will appeal to Python fans and we'd like to get the word out about it. A man called Chamberlain who did Prime Minister impressions spoke on the wireless; he said 'As from eleven o'clock we are at war with Germany'. (I loved the 'we'). 'War?' said Mother. 'It must be something we said,' said Father. This hilarious, irreverent romp through Spike’s adventures as Gunner Milligan is based on his celebrated war memoirs, using his own words and featuring live performances from a jazz quartet. It has just transferred here to Hampstead from a hugely successful run at the Bristol Old Vic, where it was hailed as “joyously funny” (Guardian, ****) and “as wacky as Spike” (Telegraph, *****). Contains barrack room humour!
