You should see some of the Hillbilly vehicles on the road around here. At one time, the Detroit area made you get an emissions test for your car. But that fell apart because they proved that the vast majority of people who drove in/out of the Detroit area didn't live there - and didn't need to get an emissions test. AT> You guys don't have to take the car to a mechanic every year to get an AT> annual inspection sticker? Nope. Although I do get our cars fixed when the check engine light comes on. But we hold our cars for, maybe, 15 years and then trade them in. Michigan winters are hard on cars, and we need them. So I try to keep them working well. AT> You can drive your car with the check engine light on indefinitely, AT> with no problem? Yup. And the muffler draging on the ground. And the door duct taped shut. And enough rust so that you wonder how the car is even hanging together. AT> My problem is that I drive an old car, and so does my dad. Our cars AT> work fine, but they have the ridiculous "Check engine" light constantly AT> coming on, and we struggle to get the vehicles to pass inspection, and AT> we waste a lot of money on repairs that don't even solve the problem. AT> It's a trap that we fall into. The law is an Elitist law because they don't want people to drive their own cars. It's part of the "make it too costly for the plebes to drive" plan. Gas taxes. Road taxes. Osama's "Cash for clunkers" debacle. At some point, your car will just get too old for some things to work right. That's normal (especially with today's cars). So they want you to waste money on repairs. Then they want you to be unable to afford a better car so that you start taking socialist transportation (which they can block you from using at some point if they don't like what you say). AT> The reason I'm curious about your states is because I'm wondering if AT> it's possible to somehow register my vehicle in your state for the sake AT> of avoiding this ridiculous hassle that we have in "the sticker AT> states." I'm pretty sure that's illegal. .... Things working well, no problems.
