It's not just korean.  I had this happen with me with Indian contractors and
heard of it happening to others in different countries.

Behind your back, they bad mouth you and try to convince manangement that you
are an idiot (and that they are sooooo wonderful).

In my case, I had lots of friends in that meeting and the Indian contractors
got laughed out of the room.
