A drupe is a stone fruit - peach, nectarine, plum, cherry... The 
existence of fruit has always seemed like a miracle to me. I'm aware 
that no peach arrives pristine or without artifice to the grocery 
store or the orchard - there are systems of labour and distribution, 
and histories of breeding - but this does not detract from the 
miracle. The unkind world, of which my fellow humans are a part, at 
times yields a consolation: a peach on a hot summer day.
