# Google AMP project // 18-9-10 Through an [article][1] on I found out about the Google [AMP project]( https://www.ampproject.org/ ). (The [article][1] was about new Chrome versions leaving off any `www.` or `m.` subdomains from the URL, which some people think are preliminary steps to get normal users accustomed to having things removed from URLs, so that in future they will not notice or question the fact they are no longer looking at the original web content, but the AMP cached one, which gives Google more control over content, revenue, and Everything.) It's really impressive what energy gets dedicated to making websites load faster, because they are bloated with trackers and ads and javascrap and therefore need tons of developer efforts to tag everything with metadata to allow preprocessing of content, before the user sees it. Reminds me of the `wap://` stupidity, which fortunately has failed, it seems. I do hope people don't buy into the AMP stuff neither! They could just use gopher, but then ads don't work... How nice! .:. [1]: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/09/07/google_kills_www/
