How About a Nice Game of Digger? ================================ A bit after the Microsoft annuversary, I decide to install dosbox, then I find that there are better emulators such as dosbox-staging I've installed om my FreeBSD system. There are some interesting thing about the DOS system; you probably know that a filename structure is 8 chars then a dot and then 3 chars. No longer names. From the university, I remember learning first to write program in Pascal on a Mac not feeling at all the restrictions on filenames, and then UNIX - what a great system! I feel that the shell is more advanced than DOS. I have secided to also install Digger just to make a blog post[1] about it. From where do you download the game? The internet archive[2] ! For me, the internet archive is a great alternative to the Google search engine. I can look for site snapshots, books, music and other things. It took me 2 tries to find a version I can download, and two tries to actually download the files. The first was downloading a Torrent file, but my Torrent application indicated that it is in the witing status. The other alternative is ZIP. ZIP is great! I can simply extract the file. Back inthe days the game was released the graphic card it was developed for was CGA, not even VGA. So, better not ignore the configuration file. And if the game is too slow for you, change the number of cycles in the file. I run it on my machine by opening a terminal and typing: dosbox-staging --conf ~/dosbox/dosbox.conf [1] https://pnqk.me/qouh0n [2] https://archive.org
