2020-02-09 Welcome updated 2024-07-07 Welcome to ZLG's Zaibatsu Pod. My participation at the Zaibatsu is mostly through this Gopher hole. I have poked around the BBS and schat but not much else. It's hard for me to connect with others due to past experiences, so despite an interest in meeting other nerds, friendships haven't really worked out for me in the programmer world. Pubnixes and the smolnet seem like a better vehicle to find genuine communication, without any pressure of followers, likes, or other metrics. I'd like to thank Solderpunk for providing the Zaibatsu, and others in the community for keeping the spirit alive around the whole thing. This place is a corner of the Internet I can visit and it feels... quiet? Like entering a library, but there's still some mumbling between people working on projects. I guess that's what a hackerspace would look and feel like. Content here has so far just been phlogging about personal things and maybe reposting things that exist on my website. Once I finish a Gopher generator for Pelican, I'll be able to publish from one project directory instead of a separate one for Gopher that needs its content reformatted to be ready. Direct mail over Circumlunar is more than welcome. For anyone outside of Circumlunar Space, please visit my terrestrial Internet site: https://zlg.space gopher://zlg.space/1/ There, I practice digital self-sufficiency by managing all of the data services that I use. It is the primary portal of my public activity on Earth, and where I practice what I preach regarding software and control over one's data. Corporations do not handle data responsibly, and data breaches negatively influence the lives of thousands of people. The corporations that get attacked face no repercussions for their failure to properly steward our data. Thus, people who care about privacy and data security have no choice but to run their own infra. --- That said, you can't solely socialize on your own infra. I stream on Twitch every Tuesday evening Pacific Time, usually starting before 19:00. I play various games both modern and old, and you might score a programming sesh if I'm feeling froggy. No guarantees that you'll be entertained. https://twitch.tv/zlg_creates --- Thanks for visiting, -z
